Manager, Policy and Regulatory Affairs

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Formulate and implement WeaveGrid’s regulatory and policy strategy for designated U.S. region(s)

• Establish external partnerships and identify avenues to cultivate essential stakeholder relationships

• Draft and submit comments for utility regulatory proceedings

• Represent WeaveGrid at conferences, workshops, and other gatherings

• Investigate regulatory developments to guide a 2–3 year business strategy and discover methods to influence policy, rulemaking, and ratemaking

• Analyze regulatory filings, state-level policies, and competitive landscapes to bolster market and business development

• Collaborate with business units on benefit-cost analysis and program evaluation documents

• Work alongside business development to ensure favorable outcomes and obtain regulatory approval

• Assist in creating presentation materials on policy results for utility-client meetings

• Identify and seek out formal and informal influence opportunities within the industry and regulatory environment

• Report to the Director of Regulatory Affairs and Market Development

• Collaborate closely with business development and utility solutions teams in the assigned regions

⛳️ Requirements

• BA/BS or equivalent experience in law, social sciences, or engineering

• MPA/Masters, JD, or equivalent experience with a focus on energy policy regulations is preferred

• Over 5 years of full-time experience in relevant policy and regulatory affairs for electric utilities and/or grid operations

• Extensive domain knowledge in transportation electrification, managed charging, DER flexibility, power systems, RTOs/ISOs, grid modernization, distribution planning, or public utility regulation

• Proven expertise in detailed analysis of energy policy, regulatory writing, and/or state legislative lobbying

• Existing connections among stakeholders in electric transportation, demand-side management, and/or grid modernization are preferred

• Demonstrated history of empathetic leadership, personal initiative, inquiry, and solutions-focused approach

• Ability to think, communicate, and execute both strategically and tactically

• Strong attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, and a solid work ethic

• Capability to perform effectively under time constraints

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convert technical information into compelling narratives

• Experience in prioritizing competing initiatives and assessing the strategic value of regulatory or stakeholder engagement opportunities

• Capacity to collaborate with diverse internal and external teams and bridge different areas of expertise

• Willingness to work remotely with the capacity to travel as necessary
