This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Collaborate with the General Counsel to oversee departmental priorities, initiatives, and operational goals that align with Liquidia's corporate strategy and growth objectives.
• Create and track KPIs, dashboards, and reporting metrics to assess the performance and service delivery of the legal department.
• Recognize and implement process enhancements that boost efficiency, mitigate risk, and elevate stakeholder experience.
• Formulate and uphold standard operating procedures, templates, playbooks, and workflow documentation.
• Oversee departmental projects and cross-functional initiatives.
• Spearhead the implementation, optimization, and management of legal and compliance technology solutions, including CLM, document management, matter management, and compliance systems.
• Set up centralized repositories and knowledge management resources.
• Assess emerging legal technology and AI-driven solutions.
• Promote the usage of legal technology tools through training, communication, change management, and continuous support.
• Manage relationships with outside counsel billing departments and legal service providers.
• Supervise billing guidelines, spend management, and vendor performance metrics.
• Monitor legal expenditures and enhance cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with Finance to develop, manage, and track the budget for the Legal and Compliance department.
• Review spending against forecasts and provide reports, analyses, and recommendations.
• Oversee invoice review and approval processes and assist with annual budgeting and financial planning.
• Support contract lifecycle management, including intake, tracking, execution, storage, obligations management, and reporting.
• Create tools and processes for contract visibility, obligations, renewals, and risks.
• Streamline contracting workflows and turnaround times with internal stakeholders.
• Maintain records of corporate insurance policies and assist with renewals.
• Coordinate documentation for insurance renewals and claims.
• Establish procedures for identifying, documenting, and escalating potential claims or risk events.
• Monitor claims and risk mitigation activities until resolution.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• A Bachelor's degree is required.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in legal operations, corporate legal support, compliance operations, contract management, paralegal functions, or related business operations roles.
• Proven experience in implementing operational improvements, legal technologies, and scalable business processes.
• Experience in managing budgets, vendor relationships, and expenses related to outside counsel.
• Strong analytical, organizational, project management, and communication skills.
• Capability to handle multiple priorities in a dynamic, cross-functional, and highly collaborative environment.
• Proficiency in legal technology platforms, Microsoft 365 applications, and reporting tools.
• Preferred: Experience in supporting an in-house legal department within the life sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or healthcare sectors.
• Preferred: Familiarity with contract lifecycle management (CLM), matter management, billing by outside counsel, and compliance systems.
• Preferred: Certification in legal operations, project management, compliance, or process improvement methodologies.
