Manager, Institutional Giving

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee a designated portfolio of foundation, family foundation, and corporate funders, which includes relationship planning, cultivation, stewardship, renewal, and follow-up.

• Develop and maintain funder relationships through effective communications, meetings, updates, and establishing clear next steps.

• Identify opportunities and risks within the portfolio and communicate them to the Director of Institutional Giving.

• Represent Echoing Green at selected funder meetings and external events.

• Prepare and manage grant proposals and reports, encompassing both narrative and financial elements.

• Convert program information, data, and insights into precise narratives for funders.

• Create briefing materials, talking points, and background research for funder meetings.

• Write stewardship communications, donor updates, impact highlights, and acknowledgment materials.

• Ensure that donor recognition and funder-facing communications accurately reflect the contributions of Fellows, partners, and communities.

• Maintain systems to track proposals, reports, deadlines, responsibilities, and statuses; flag any at-risk work.

• Keep Institutional Giving records updated in Salesforce and address any missing or inconsistent information.

• Develop and uphold the annual Institutional Giving communications calendar.

• Encourage consistent use of templates, systems, and processes while identifying areas for improvement.

• Collaborate with Programs, Finance, Communications, and other teams on proposals, reports, stewardship, and funder engagement.

• Act as the Development lead for selected organizational events, employee engagement activities, and special projects involving institutional funders.

• Research potential institutional funders for their giving capacity and alignment with our mission.

• Contribute portfolio data and research for the analysis of renewals, pipeline health, risks, and growth opportunities.

• Raise inquiries regarding funding terms, reporting requirements, relationship dynamics, and organizational trade-offs.

• Report directly to the Director of Institutional Giving.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in managing or significantly contributing to institutional grants, funder relationships, proposals, reports, renewals, or similar responsibilities.

• Relevant experience may be derived from fundraising, grantmaking, partnerships, program or grant management, or another context involving external relationships and complex written deliverables.

• Ability to establish trust with external partners and navigate competing interests while prioritizing organizational objectives.

• Strong writing skills tailored to various audiences, with the ability to convey complex information without oversimplifying.

• Capability to proactively engage relevant colleagues, share context, and coordinate efforts.

• Proficient in managing multiple deadlines and relationships, prioritizing tasks, adapting plans, and communicating changes promptly.

• Keen attention to detail and the ability to identify and rectify inconsistencies.

• An equity-minded perspective that considers power, access, identity, and representation.

• Ability to handle confidential information responsibly, recognize when further input is necessary, and identify potential risks.

• Comfortable using a CRM, project management tools, spreadsheets, and presentation software.

• Experience with Salesforce, Asana, Excel, and PowerPoint is advantageous; comparable tools are acceptable.

• Genuine interest in Echoing Green's mission.

• Availability to work full-time during Eastern Time (New York business hours).

• Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employer sponsorship.
