Manager, Industrial Controls Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee a team of Controls Engineers who are responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining PLC-based control software for industrial automation systems.

• Provide daily guidance and technical leadership to a group of 6–8 PLC R&D Controls Engineers.

• Take ownership of the delivery of PLC software milestones across various projects and programs.

• Conduct one-on-one meetings, performance evaluations, goal setting, and career development planning.

• Communicate project status, potential risks, and technical trade-offs to stakeholders effectively.

• Lead the prototyping, testing, validation, and documentation of control system concepts and electrical designs.

• Ensure the design of PLC software is of high quality, reliable, and maintainable.

• Advocate for best practices in modular programming, version control, diagnostics, and documentation.

• Encourage the adoption of AI-assisted programming, simulation, Digital Twins, and automated testing methodologies.

• Assist in troubleshooting and performing root-cause analysis for complex or high-impact issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in industrial automation, controls engineering, and personnel management.

• Practical expertise with Rockwell Automation PLC platforms, Motion Control, Safety PLC Systems, OT networking, and industrial communication protocols.

• Experience in HMI/SCADA development, preferably with Inductive Automation Ignition software.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted PLC code development, simulation tools, Digital Twins, and automated PLC testing.

• Capability to balance hands-on technical tasks with leadership responsibilities.

• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.

• A valid driver’s license.

• Willingness to travel by driving or flying to client locations and the company headquarters.
