This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Oversee and directly manage the staff within the Ethics and Compliance Department.
• Support the Ethics and Compliance Program in fulfilling the seven essential elements of a robust compliance program.
• Assist the Senior Director of Compliance and Chief Privacy Officer and/or compliance committee as required.
• Create, review, and update compliance policies and procedures, including the Code of Conduct.
• Help establish and maintain effective communication channels.
• Design, implement, and/or oversee specialized and general compliance training and education initiatives.
• Address identified violations effectively.
• Oversee internal monitoring and auditing processes.
• Support the enforcement of disciplinary standards.
• Responsibly utilize data, analytics, technology, and artificial intelligence tools to identify emerging risks, enhance controls, assess program effectiveness, and assist health care compliance research functions and research institute stakeholders.
• Supervise assigned E&C staff while managing multiple concurrent, time-sensitive, and complex projects related to compliance program operations, investigations, and audits.
• Assist the Director in the development and revision of department policies and procedures.
• Prepare reports for senior management and the Ethics and Compliance Senior Leadership Committee Board.
• Collaborate with the Director of Ethics and Compliance on matters concerning the hiring, training, development, and performance evaluations of direct reports.
• Work alongside OhioHealth management teams across the health system to synchronize compliance efforts with federal, state, and system regulations.
• Undertake special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned.
• Bachelor's Degree (Required).
• A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience.
• Willingness to learn and obtain a required specialty credential within twelve months from the hire date, if applicable: CHC, CHPC, CHRC, or CHC-F.
• Strong understanding of health care compliance program expectations, including guidance from the Office of Inspector General, U.S. Sentencing Commission, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and other regulatory bodies.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience in preparing executive-level reports, policies, investigation summaries, committee materials, and training content.
• Familiarity with fraud, waste, and abuse laws; Stark Law; Anti-Kickback Statute; False Claims Act; HIPAA; billing and coding compliance; conflicts of interest; exclusion screening; vendor oversight; and other health care regulatory standards.
• Competence in evaluating compliance issues, identifying root causes, suggesting practical corrective measures, and monitoring remediation efforts.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
• Strong analytical, organizational, facilitation, presentation, and project management abilities.
• Capacity to cultivate effective working relationships with leaders, physicians, clinicians, operational teams, legal counsel, auditors, and external stakeholders.
• Proficiency in managing multiple concurrent priorities, deadlines, investigations, and projects in a complex health care setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and experience with compliance case management, audit tracking, learning management, reporting, or data analytics tools preferred.
• Ability to transform compliance data into actionable insights, including trend analysis, risk prioritization, performance measurement, executive reporting, and recommendations for corrective or preventive actions.
• Understanding of responsible AI governance principles, including human oversight, data privacy, bias awareness, transparency, accuracy validation, appropriate use, documentation, and escalation of AI-related compliance issues.
• Knowledge of health care research compliance issues, including human subjects research, IRB processes, informed consent, Common Rule concepts, research privacy, data utilization, conflicts of interest, research billing, grants, sponsor requirements, and concerns related to research misconduct.
