Manager, Engineering – Ads

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the MyFitnessPal Advertising team and enhance the development of a quality-first advertising experience.

• Oversee a cross-functional group of backend and iOS engineers, emphasizing outcomes rather than outputs.

• Collaborate with Product and Design teams to identify valuable solutions through qualitative and quantitative analysis.

• Manage project delivery by keeping a well-maintained backlog and scheduling maintenance as well as technical debt tasks.

• Decompose work effectively and in a timely manner.

• Facilitate team ceremonies and mentor others in doing the same.

• Coach and nurture team members while ensuring the overall health of the team.

• Guarantee a smooth transition from discovery to delivery.

• Maintain the quality and maintainability of the codebase.

• Work in collaboration with Product, Design, Ad Operations, and Sales on both programmatic and direct-sold advertising formats.

• Navigate the ever-changing landscape of privacy and consent.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience leading mobile engineering teams within the Product Model, with an iterative focus on outcomes.

• A solid foundation in product iterations based on A/B testing.

• Proven experience in leading consumer-facing development efforts centered on native applications, utilizing iterative, learning-focused agile methodologies.

• A history of collaborative partnerships with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to plan, execute, and deliver projects successfully.

• Experience in developing high-trust engineering teams through effective mentorship and coaching.

• Capability to establish clear goals, context, and decision-making frameworks while empowering engineers to take ownership of technical execution and tradeoff discussions.

• Familiarity with common software engineering patterns and best practices.

• Experience with high-traffic mobile applications and scalable development while balancing speed, quality, and safety.
