This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Act as the primary fundraising strategist and major gifts officer for Blue Star Families in the California area.
• Build relationships with high-net-worth individuals, corporate executives, family foundations, and institutional partners throughout California.
• Create and oversee a portfolio of high-capacity donors and prospects, concentrating on contributions of $25,000 and above.
• Identify and nurture major and principal gift prospects within the California market.
• Design and execute a regional fundraising strategy that aligns with overall revenue objectives.
• Engage leaders from the technology sector, corporate partners, and family foundations.
• Utilize regional events and engagement opportunities for donor cultivation and pipeline development.
• Collaborate with Development leadership, Chapter Support, Events, and national fundraising efforts.
• Ensure that California fundraising initiatives are synchronized with capital, annual, and national campaigns.
• Monitor portfolio activity, pipeline development, and revenue forecasting through CRM systems.
• Represent Blue Star Families at regional philanthropic, corporate, and civic events.
• Travel frequently within the region and nationally as needed.
• Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.
• 7–10+ years of advancing experience in nonprofit fundraising.
• Proven track record in securing major gifts of $25,000+ and principal gifts.
• In-depth knowledge of Northern California’s philanthropic and corporate environment.
• Experience in engaging high-net-worth individuals, technology leaders, and family foundations.
• Capability to operate autonomously in a regional leadership position.
• Familiarity with CRM systems (Salesforce is preferred).
• Willingness to travel regionally on a consistent basis.
• Ability to travel overnight multiple times a year for organizational events and donor engagement.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed to fulfill essential job responsibilities.
• Physical ability to lift and transport supplies and equipment weighing up to 30 lbs.
• Must be located near Los Angeles or San Francisco.
