Machine Learning Engineer – IV, Biometrics

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Oversee the design and development of computer vision systems focused on biometrics, including face attributes, detection, quality assessment, and recognition.

• Conduct thorough fairness analysis and benchmarking of biometric models across diverse datasets and varying operating conditions.

• Architect, train, and optimize models utilizing PyTorch, TensorFlow, and/or JAX.

• Take ownership of and enhance end-to-end machine learning pipelines, from data ingestion to deployment. Design automated pipelines (Airflow) for data ingestion and cleaning, ensuring the curation of balanced training sets and the generation of synthetic data to address quality and diversity gaps.

• Production Engineering: Manage the journey to production. Optimize models for low-latency inference using techniques such as quantization, distillation, and TensorRT/ONNX, while overseeing deployment on AWS.

• Mentor machine learning engineers, perform code and design reviews, and promote technical best practices within the Computer Vision team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience: A minimum of 5 years of industry experience in Machine Learning, with at least 3 years focused specifically on Biometrics or Face Analysis.

• Profound expertise in computer vision and biometrics, particularly in face recognition.

• Fairness & Ethics: A solid understanding of the sources of algorithmic bias in Computer Vision, along with practical experience in measuring and mitigating disparate impacts.

• Strong Engineering: Advanced proficiency in Python, including machine learning and vision libraries such as Pillow, OpenCV, and PyTorch. You produce clean, modular, production-ready code.

• Systems Architecture: Proven experience in designing comprehensive ML pipelines (from Data to Train to Deploy) and familiarity with workflow orchestrators, such as Airflow.

• Cloud Native: Practical experience in scaling training jobs on multi-GPU clusters and deploying services on AWS (including SageMaker, EC2, and EKS).
