Machine Learning Engineer, AI/ML

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +6 more locations.

📋 Description

• Design and develop AI-driven features throughout the entire stack of the ClickHouse Cloud platform.

• Construct backend inference services alongside user-friendly frontend interfaces.

• Establish robust, scalable APIs that link ClickHouse database functionalities with AI/ML inference systems and both external and internal AI services.

• Implement and sustain integrations with the wider AI/ML ecosystem and adhere to industry standards.

• Integrate models into production environments, ensuring monitoring, versioning, observability, and evaluation are in place.

• Participate in the daytime on-call rotation.

• Take full ownership of the ML pipeline from start to finish, encompassing data, training, and evaluation.

• Fine-tune or develop custom models when standard models do not meet requirements.

• Stay informed on the latest advancements and incorporate enhancements into ClickHouse products.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience in production settings.

• Familiarity with AI/ML technologies.

• Proven experience in integrating and deploying AI/ML models within production systems.

• Experience with inference APIs and vector databases.

• Capability to drive features from initial concept through to production with little oversight.

• Strong ability to communicate technical concepts to a diverse range of stakeholders.

• Practical ML experience using Python, Jupyter, PyTorch, and common ML libraries.

• Direct experience with compute clusters such as Ray and Slurm.

• Ability to design reliable experiments to inform architectural decisions.

• Knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP, especially in relation to AI/ML deployment services (preferred).

• Understanding of database systems and data processing pipelines (preferred).

• Experience with ClickHouse (preferred).

• Familiarity with embedding-based systems, including retrieval, ranking, and recommendation engines (preferred).
