This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee daily transportation activities across all BrightFarms greenhouse sites.
• Strategically plan and enhance shipments, including selecting modes, routing, consolidating, managing multi-stop loads, and handling expedited shipments.
• Secure carrier capacity and guarantee the availability of appropriate equipment to adhere to shipping timelines.
• Organize and oversee pickup and delivery schedules with customers, carriers, suppliers, and greenhouse operations.
• Track shipments from dispatch to delivery, proactively addressing delays, service exceptions, temperature alerts, and any transportation-related issues.
• Relay shipment status, appointment updates, and operational concerns to internal stakeholders, customers, and carriers.
• Maintain essential shipment documentation, such as Proof of Delivery (POD), temperature logs, and delivery confirmations.
• Foster and nurture strong carrier relationships while monitoring service performance, identifying failures, and escalating recurring issues.
• Manage special transportation requests, including sample shipments, donations, and material deliveries.
• Review freight invoices, assess accessorial charges, and assist with freight claims through documentation and communication with carriers.
• Create transportation reports and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, enhance service quality, and lower costs.
• Assist with transportation sourcing efforts, including maintaining routing guides and managing Requests for Proposal (RFPs).
• Develop, sustain, and refine logistics Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
• Support new customer onboarding, network expansion projects, and other cross-functional logistics initiatives.
• Provide remote and occasional on-site assistance to greenhouse operations and Farm Support.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, food safety standards, and transportation regulations.
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for after-hours and weekend support of transportation operations, responding to service disruptions, and ensuring business continuity.
• Carry out other duties as assigned.
• Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field, along with 2+ years of industry experience.
• Proficiency with supply chain software (e.g., TMS, WMS, and ERP systems).
• Knowledge of transportation across various modes, including HOS regulations and equipment limitations.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills; adept at analyzing data and presenting actionable recommendations.
• Capability to read and interpret general industry documentation.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting with minimal supervision; self-starter.
