Local Expansion Staff Researcher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct research on trustworthy sources of election information and reach out to collect official election documents for local contests.

• Input and manage election and candidate data in Ballotpedia’s database using both automated tools and manual verification.

• Keep track of updates to election schedules and documentation.

• Enhance and maintain databases related to sources and research methodologies.

• Verify data for accuracy and completeness, making corrections in line with Ballotpedia’s standards.

• Develop expertise in state and local election practices within assigned jurisdictions.

• Investigate election laws and other pertinent electoral subjects.

• Recognize opportunities and implement processes to enhance local election coverage.

• Facilitate better access to Ballotpedia’s local election coverage on-site.

• Advocate for Ballotpedia’s local election coverage.

• Report directly to the Local Expansion Managing Editor.

• Capability to comprehend complex processes and consistently adhere to instructions.

• Ability to accurately and concisely summarize intricate concepts, challenging texts, and detailed structures.

• Strong critical thinking skills.

• Aptitude for understanding diverse source structures and applying general categories and logical statements.

• Competence in collaborating, communicating progress, sharing insights, and coordinating research activities.

• Willingness to accept and act on constructive feedback.

• Proficient with Google Chrome, Google Docs, Google Sheets, or similar applications.

• Interest in or experience with AI tools to enhance productivity.

• A computer with internet access is required.

• Must have authorization to work in the U.S.; Ballotpedia participates in E-Verify.
