This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee litigation workstreams related to the classification of independent contractors, claims for unemployment insurance, and disputes involving marketplace users.
• Supervise litigation workstreams that focus on professional negligence and data privacy issues.
• Collaborate with both internal and external legal counsel on high-stakes litigation cases.
• Prepare responsive pleadings, briefs, and other critical legal documents.
• Develop and engage in the company's eDiscovery strategy, encompassing custodial document collection, review, and production.
• Manage the approach for responding to third-party subpoenas.
• Offer legal advice to product, operations, and various cross-functional teams.
• Assist with additional legal workstreams as required by team and company needs.
• Establish internal legal processes and systems.
• Lead significant matters, coordinate with counsel and stakeholders, and contribute to the overall legal strategy.
• Juris Doctor (JD) with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. state, with current bar admission.
• Proactive attitude towards action and problem-solving.
• Capability to take ownership of projects and manage tasks independently.
• Outstanding communication and writing skills.
• Comfortable and skilled in navigating complexity and ambiguity within a lean team structure.
• Eagerness to quickly address new and unfamiliar legal challenges.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure, independently, and meet tight deadlines.
• Adaptability and flexibility to embrace new tasks and responsibilities in a fast-paced, rapidly growing technology firm.
• Willingness and capability to engage with and interpret data, particularly from unfamiliar sources.
• Experience with arbitrations and class actions is a plus.
• Familiarity with eDiscovery processes, including large-scale custodial data collection, review, and production is desirable.
• Clerkship experience is a plus.
• Background in government work is advantageous.
