Associate Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.

📋 Description

• Represent clients in lawsuits initiated in New Jersey courts and manage various first-party insurance defense cases.

• Conduct legal research and draft briefs, opinions, and memoranda.

• Provide assessments regarding liability, damages, and valuation as requested by the Claims Department.

• Prepare and manage pleadings, motions, and discovery processes.

• Conduct depositions, examinations before trial, and examinations under oath.

• Defend assigned cases through trial or dispositive hearings, as appropriate.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 to 6+ years of litigation experience in insurance defense and/or personal injury is REQUIRED.

• A Juris Doctor degree is REQUIRED.

• Admission to the New Jersey Bar is REQUIRED.

• Must hold a valid license in good standing to practice law in New Jersey and fulfill all licensing obligations, including any applicable mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements.

• Willingness to travel as necessary, including for trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings, and conferences.

• Ability to document files in a clear, concise, and professional manner.

• Capable of following complex instructions, resolving conflicts or facilitating conflict resolution, and exhibiting strong organizational, prioritization, and multitasking abilities.

• Must be able to acquire and apply substantial amounts of technical and procedural information.

• Civil litigation experience is preferred.

• Experience in insurance defense-related litigation is preferred.

• Must demonstrate professional communication skills in person, over the phone, and in written correspondence/email.
