Literary Content Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluate and analyze passage-based test questions for clarity, precision, and readiness for testing.

• Revise CARS passages.

• Edit existing passage reviews and solutions authored by other contributors.

• Offer substantial feedback regarding question structure, stem clarity, and the quality of distractors.

• Ensure adherence to test format standards and Jack Westin quality guidelines.

• Identify deficiencies in question coverage and propose enhancements.

• Rewrite and polish solutions for clarity and pedagogical effectiveness.

• Develop detailed explanations for correct answers and distractors.

• Create contextual background and explanatory material for challenging passages.

• Ensure that reasoning is transparent and comprehensible for test-takers.

• Align solutions with Jack Westin CARS Section pedagogy and educational objectives.

• Maintain consistency in the depth of explanations, vocabulary level, and pedagogical approach.

• Conduct self-evaluations of work against established quality standards prior to submission.

• Engage in revision rounds to meet quality benchmarks.

• Recognize patterns in quality issues and recommend systemic improvements.

• Collaborate with content leads and other specialists to ensure content consistency.

• Clearly communicate editorial decisions and quality concerns.

• Participate in feedback cycles and efficiently implement revisions.

• Assist in the development of style guides and quality standards.

• Maintain organized documentation of completed work.

• Complete a timed CARS assessment independently under exam-like conditions if shortlisted.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in English, Literature, Communications, or a related field.

• In-depth expertise in LSAT reading comprehension and logical reasoning (preferred).

• Strong understanding of literary analysis, critical reading, and test-taking strategies.

• Familiarity with SAT, ACT, GRE, or other standardized exams that involve reading comprehension (preferred).

• Knowledge of item writing and assessment design principles.

• Over 3 years of experience in standardized test preparation or educational content development.

• Proven success in the testing industry (SAT, ACT, MCAT, LSAT, GRE).

• Experience in writing or editing test questions and solutions for standardized exams.

• Background in higher education test preparation or tutoring.

• Demonstrated capability to evaluate and enhance written content for clarity and pedagogy.

• Experience across multiple standardized exam formats.

• Expert-level writing and editing skills with a focus on precision and clarity.

• Comprehensive understanding of test-taking strategies and student learning of test material.

• Ability to produce clear, pedagogically sound explanations for complex concepts.

• Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.

• Attention to detail and consistency in formatting and style.

• Capability to work independently and adhere to project deadlines.

• Collaborative attitude with a willingness to accept feedback and make revisions.

• Proficiency with Google Docs, content management systems, or similar tools.

• Successful completion of a timed CARS assessment may be required.

• May undergo background, reference, employment history, education, and credential verification.

• $60 per passage review and solution rewrite (3–5 questions included).

• $20 per passage review of edits made by another writer.

• Payments issued on the 10th and 26th of each month for work completed and accepted within the previous 6 business days.
