Literary Content Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluate and review passage-based test questions for clarity, accuracy, and readiness for testing.

• Make amendments to CARS Passages.

• Edit existing reviews and solutions of passages created by other contributors.

• Provide detailed feedback on question structure, clarity of stems, and quality of distractors.

• Ensure alignment with test format standards and Jack Westin's quality guidelines.

• Identify deficiencies in question coverage and propose enhancements.

• Rewrite and polish solutions for improved clarity and educational effectiveness.

• Develop thorough explanations for correct answers and distractors.

• Create contextual background and explanatory materials for challenging passages.

• Guarantee that reasoning is clear and accessible for test-takers.

• Align solutions with established pedagogy and learning objectives in the Jack Westin CARS Section.

• Maintain consistency in explanation depth, vocabulary level, and educational approach.

• Conduct self-evaluations against established quality standards prior to submission.

• Engage in revision rounds to meet quality benchmarks.

• Recognize trends in quality issues and propose systemic enhancements.

• Collaborate with content leads and specialists to ensure content consistency.

• Clearly communicate editorial decisions and quality concerns.

• Take part in feedback cycles and implement revisions promptly.

• Assist in the development of style guides and quality standards.

• Keep organized documentation of completed work.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in English, Literature, Communications, or a related discipline.

• In-depth expertise in LSAT reading comprehension and logical reasoning (preferred).

• Strong understanding of literary analysis, critical reading, and test-taking strategies.

• Familiarity with the SAT, ACT, GRE, or other standardized tests that include reading comprehension (preferred).

• Knowledge of item writing and assessment design principles.

• Over 3 years of experience in standardized test preparation or educational content creation.

• Established record in the testing industry (SAT, ACT, MCAT, LSAT, GRE).

• Experience in writing or editing test questions and solutions for standardized examinations.

• Background in higher education test preparation or tutoring.

• Proven ability to evaluate and enhance written content for clarity and pedagogy.

• Experience with various standardized exam formats.

• Exceptional writing and editing skills with a focus on precision and clarity.

• Profound understanding of test-taking strategies and how students learn test material.

• Capacity to articulate clear, pedagogically sound explanations of complex topics.

• Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities.

• Attention to detail and consistency in formatting and style.

• Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.

• Collaborative attitude with a willingness to accept feedback and make revisions.

• Proficiency with Google Docs, content management systems, or similar tools.

• Employment may be contingent upon the successful completion of background checks, reference checks, employment history verification, education verification, and credential verification, as applicable and permitted by law.

🏝️ Benefits

• $60 per passage review and solution rewriting (3-5 questions included).

• $20 per passage review of edits made by another writer.

• Payment issued on the 10th and 26th of each month for work completed and accepted within the prior 6 business days.
