This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
β’ Independently oversee and implement DDC control system installations, programming, startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and completion for intricate commercial projects.
β’ Analyze project drawings, specifications, operational sequences, and control submissions to formulate and execute effective control solutions.
β’ Program and set up DDC controllers, supervisory devices, graphics, and peripheral equipment utilizing Reliable, Niagara, Tridium, or similar platforms.
β’ Create and apply control logic and sequences that enhance reliability, energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and optimal equipment functionality.
β’ Conduct point-to-point checks, functional testing, system startups, commissioning, and performance validation.
β’ Diagnose issues with controllers, sensors, actuators, valves, relays, networks, communication protocols, and equipment interfaces.
β’ Detect shortcomings related to controls, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, networking, TAB, startup, or other trades and coordinate corrective measures.
β’ Troubleshoot and provide support for BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, MS/TP, and IP-based building automation networks.
β’ Collaborate with contractors, electricians, TAB contractors, manufacturers, IT staff, commissioning agents, project managers, engineers, and clients.
β’ Review control diagrams, wiring schematics, sequences, specifications, and equipment documents.
β’ Offer field leadership and technical support to Level 1 and Level 2 Controls Technicians.
β’ Train and guide junior technicians on installation, wiring, programming, troubleshooting, commissioning, and best practices.
β’ Assist with upgrades, retrofits, expansions, integrations, and service-related projects.
β’ Conduct field inspections for installation quality, wiring, device placement, panel construction, and project adherence.
β’ Keep project documentation updated, including point lists, commissioning records, as-built information, startup documentation, and punch lists.
β’ Engage in project, coordination, progress review, and customer meetings.
β’ Act as a technical point of contact for customers, addressing inquiries, showcasing system functionalities, and resolving operational issues.
β’ Support project managers and sales teams with technical assessments, enhancements, estimation assistance, and future prospects.
β’ Stay informed on DDC, HVAC, networking, IoT, and building automation technologies and best practices.
β’ Ensure compliance with relevant codes, project specifications, company procedures, and safety standards.
β’ At least 5+ years of practical experience with DDC controls, building automation systems, HVAC controls, or a related discipline.
β’ Capability to independently manage intricate controls projects from installation through to commissioning and closure.
β’ Advanced programming expertise with Reliable, Niagara, Tridium, or comparable DDC/BAS platforms.
β’ Thorough understanding of BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, and IP-based communication systems.
β’ Experience in integrating DDC systems with HVAC equipment and other building systems.
β’ Solid comprehension of commercial HVAC systems, including AHUs, RTUs, VAV systems, chillers, boilers, pumps, cooling towers, and associated equipment.
β’ Proficient in reading and interpreting controls drawings, electrical schematics, mechanical plans, operational sequences, and project specifications.
β’ Strong knowledge of low-voltage control wiring, 24VAC systems, relays, transformers, sensors, actuators, and electrical troubleshooting.
β’ Familiarity with electrical codes and safe electrical work practices.
β’ Ability to troubleshoot complex issues using diagnostic tools, software, meters, network tools, and system data.
β’ Strong grasp of control system networking, including BACnet MS/TP, BACnet/IP, Ethernet, and basic network troubleshooting.
β’ Skill in distinguishing controls-related problems from mechanical, electrical, equipment, TAB, or networking issues.
β’ Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and adhere to deadlines.
β’ Outstanding communication abilities and capacity to collaborate effectively with customers, contractors, engineers, project managers, and internal teams.
β’ Proven leadership skills and a willingness to train, mentor, and assist junior technicians.
β’ Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to various project sites as needed.
β’ High school diploma or equivalent is required.
β’ A technical degree, trade certification, or bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, controls, or a related field is preferred.
