This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Take initiative in leading and executing the installation, programming, startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and closeout of DDC control systems for intricate commercial projects.

• Analyze project drawings, specifications, sequences of operation, and control submittals to formulate effective control solutions.

• Program and configure DDC controllers, supervisory devices, graphics, and supplementary equipment.

• Create and implement control logic and sequences that promote reliability, energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and optimal equipment functionality.

• Conduct point-to-point checkout, functional testing, system startup, commissioning, and performance verification.

• Address complex control issues involving controllers, sensors, actuators, valves, relays, networks, communication protocols, and equipment interfaces.

• Facilitate corrective actions for controls, mechanical, electrical, networking, TAB, startup, and other trade deficiencies.

• Diagnose and support BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, MS/TP, and IP-based building automation networks.

• Collaborate with mechanical contractors, electricians, TAB contractors, equipment manufacturers, IT staff, commissioning agents, project managers, engineers, and clients.

• Review control drawings, wiring diagrams, sequences, specifications, and equipment documentation.

• Provide field direction and technical support to Level 1 and Level 2 Controls Technicians.

• Mentor and train junior technicians.

• Assist in system upgrades, retrofits, expansions, integrations, and service-related initiatives.

• Conduct field inspections to ensure installation quality, wiring, device placement, panel construction, and project compliance.

• Maintain project documentation, including point lists, commissioning records, as-built information, startup documentation, and punch lists.

• Participate in project coordination, progress reviews, and customer meetings.

• Act as a technical contact for customers, showcasing system functionality and addressing operational concerns.

• Support project managers and sales teams with technical evaluations, system enhancements, estimating assistance, and identifying future opportunities.

• Stay informed about DDC, HVAC, networking, IoT, and building automation technologies.

• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, project specifications, company protocols, and safety standards.


⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5+ years of practical experience with DDC controls, building automation systems, HVAC controls, or a related field.

• Capability to independently oversee complex controls projects from installation through commissioning and closeout.

• Advanced programming skills with Reliable, Niagara, Tridium, or equivalent DDC/BAS platforms.

• Strong comprehension of BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, and IP-based communication systems.

• Experience in integrating DDC systems with HVAC equipment and other building systems.

• In-depth understanding of commercial HVAC systems, including AHUs, RTUs, VAV systems, chillers, boilers, pumps, cooling towers, and related equipment.

• Proficiency in reading controls drawings, electrical schematics, mechanical plans, sequences of operation, and project specifications.

• Extensive knowledge of low-voltage controls wiring, 24VAC systems, relays, transformers, sensors, actuators, and electrical troubleshooting.

• Familiarity with electrical codes and safe electrical work practices.

• Ability to troubleshoot complex problems using diagnostic tools, software, meters, network tools, and system information.

• Solid understanding of control system networking, including BACnet MS/TP, BACnet/IP, Ethernet, and basic network troubleshooting.

• Skill in differentiating controls-related issues from mechanical, electrical, equipment, TAB, or networking deficiencies.

• Strong organizational and project management capabilities.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with customers, contractors, engineers, project managers, and internal teams.

• Proven leadership skills and a willingness to train, mentor, and support junior technicians.

• Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to various project sites as necessary.

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.

• Equivalent hands-on experience will be taken into account.
