Legal Knowledge Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Convert legal reasoning, workflows, and procedural needs into organized AI-driven systems.

• Create decision trees, escalation models, workflow logic, and prompt structures for family law processes.

• Collaborate with attorneys and operational teams to uncover opportunities for automation and process enhancement.

• Assist in structuring and maintaining institutional legal knowledge repositories, workflow playbooks, and operational guidance systems.

• Develop and enhance AI prompts, retrieval systems, and workflow orchestration logic.

• Aid in constructing AI-powered intake systems, document automation workflows, and client communication solutions.

• Partner with product managers, developers, and AI engineers for implementation and testing.

• Help establish quality assurance, human-review, and escalation standards for AI-generated outputs.

• Oversee AI outputs to ensure consistency, quality, compliance, and operational efficiency.

• Engage in testing, iteration, and optimization of AI-assisted legal workflows.

• Assist in documenting legal workflows, system logic, and governance procedures.

• Stay updated on emerging AI technologies, legal tech trends, and evolving regulatory considerations that influence AI in legal services.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD), paralegal certification, legal operations experience, or equivalent practical legal workflow expertise.

• Over 3 years of experience in legal operations, legal technology, workflow design, legal process engineering, product operations, or related disciplines.

• Strong comprehension of legal workflows, procedural systems, and operational process design.

• Outstanding analytical and systems-thinking skills.

• Ability to convert complex legal concepts into structured workflows and operational logic.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong organizational and project management abilities.

• Comfortable working in highly collaborative, cross-functional teams.

• A keen interest and enthusiasm for AI, automation, and the future of legal services.
