This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct research and compose writings on both domestic and international law, encompassing environmental law, human rights legislation, international investment law, and international trade law and policy.

• Provide assistance with policy evaluation and advocacy efforts.

• Participate in meetings and conferences.

• Help in the creation of CIEL publications, legal opinions, and legal briefs.

• Aid in the preparation of amicus curiae submissions for international tribunals.

• Collaborate closely with CIEL team members on diverse projects.

• Enhance expertise in international environmental law and legal strategies aimed at safeguarding human rights and the environment, under the guidance of staff experts and attorneys.

⛳️ Requirements

• Candidates must be enrolled in a postgraduate law degree program (JD, LLM) or a comparable professional qualification for the duration of the internship.

• Recent graduates are not eligible for this position.

• Prior experience in international environmental or human rights law through graduate-level coursework or relevant work experience is required.

• Candidates must be willing to commit to a ten-week period working 15 hours per week.

• The internship must be completed while the candidate is physically located in the United States.

• CIEL does not provide visa sponsorship; non-US citizens must currently be enrolled students in the US and must undertake the internship under a university-sponsored student visa.
