Legal Expert – Contract

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist the research team in comprehending the practical execution of legal work.

• Create realistic legal tasks that qualified professionals can address, which current AI models struggle with.

• Develop authentic evidence files based on provided scenarios, including agreements, pleadings, discovery requests, closing checklists, disclosure schedules, office actions, and claim charts.

• Draft task requests that outline deliverables and specify how to manage uncertainty and justified assumptions.

• Execute tasks from start to finish and document reference solutions, providing reasoning for each step taken.

• Establish clear scoring criteria, including acceptable alternative answers and limits on decision authority.

• Evaluate personal and colleagues' tasks for legal precision and ambiguity.

• Integrate reviewer feedback within agreed-upon turnaround times and identify any guideline gaps or edge cases.

• Clarify workflows, documents, responsibilities, and potential failure points to the research team.

• Assess research team scenarios and documents, highlighting any unrealistic components.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 3 years of relevant hands-on experience in one of the specified legal areas as an attorney, patent or trademark agent, or IP paralegal.

• Proficient understanding of applicable rules, procedures, and documentation standards.

• Excellent reading skills and a commitment to supporting conclusions with evidence.

• Ability to write clearly and precisely in professional English.

• Capable of working independently and asynchronously while meeting deadlines.

• All tasks, documents, and solutions must be authored by humans; LLM-generated content is not acceptable.

• Solutions must be original, without copying from published or easily accessible sources.

• Must not utilize real client, matter, employer, or personal data, or any privileged/confidential information.

• Preferred: experience in writing or reviewing AI evaluation tasks, exam questions, case studies, or training materials.

• Preferred: familiarity with the failure modes of AI models.
