Legal Counsel – PBM Market Conduct

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Deliver strategic legal and regulatory advice to internal business stakeholders concerning market conduct examinations and healthcare laws and regulations.

• Counsel business partners on a diverse range of legal and regulatory issues.

• Work in partnership with attorneys and business colleagues on matters of legal and regulatory compliance.

• Recognize business and legal risks and offer solutions that align legal considerations with business goals.

• Cultivate an understanding of the operational and business objectives of assigned internal clients.

• Assist CVS Health, specifically Caremark, with investigations and enforcement related to PBM compliance and state market conduct examinations.

• Contribute to the creation of PBM audits and examinations.

• Manage legal issues associated with examinations and aid in the resolution of enforcement-related matters.

• Coordinate and supervise several legal issues and risk evaluations.

• Support cross-departmental legal matters across the organization.

• Collaborate with CVS Health’s in-house legal team within a regulated framework.

⛳️ Requirements

• Currently practicing attorney with over 5 years of proven experience in a law firm and/or in-house environment.

• Proficiency in managing healthcare regulatory issues.

• Experience engaging with government regulators or agencies and/or third-party auditors or examiners on healthcare topics.

• Licensed to practice law in at least one state and in good standing.

• Willingness to travel up to 15%, including by air.

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree is mandatory.

• Strong understanding of healthcare laws and regulations is preferred.

• Background in a PBM or health plan/insurer setting is desirable.

• Experience in litigation or dispute resolution is advantageous.

• Experience overseeing and/or collaborating with external counsel is beneficial.

• Flexibility to work in a hybrid model (3 days onsite) at the IL Chicago offices is preferred.
