Lead/Principal Front-End Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine, +5 more countries.

📋 Description

• Design and oversee front-end architecture utilizing Next.js, React, and TypeScript for enterprise commerce solutions.

• Drive architectural choices regarding rendering strategies, encompassing SSR, edge, and serverless approaches.

• Establish methodologies for state management, caching, and optimizing Core Web Vitals.

• Document significant architectural decisions in Architectural Decision Records (ADRs).

• Decompose epics into well-defined, actionable user stories complete with acceptance criteria.

• Assess technical complexity and assist in clarifying uncertainties prior to sprint commencement.

• Set coding standards, conventions, and engineering workflows tailored for both engineers and AI agents.

• Engage directly with clients during discovery sessions.

• Convert business requirements into technical architecture roadmaps.

• Remove obstacles for distributed engineering teams and facilitate delivery across various workstreams.

• Articulate technical decisions and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of experience in leading front-end architectural decisions for distributed engineering teams consisting of 3 or more members.

• Extensive expertise in React, Next.js, and TypeScript.

• Strong background with Next.js App Router and React Server Components.

• Demonstrated experience in architecting enterprise commerce platforms like Shopify Plus, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, BigCommerce, or comparable systems.

• Profound knowledge in performance engineering and optimizing Core Web Vitals, including LCP, CLS, INP, caching, and CDN strategies.

• Experience in structuring specifications, documentation, and tasks for AI agent execution, such as Cursor, Claude Code, or similar tools.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Strong skills in client-facing communication.

• Capability to articulate architectural decisions, risks, and trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience collaborating with distributed engineering teams.

• Familiarity with headless CMS platforms such as Contentful, Sanity, or Contentstack.

• Experience in architecting headless commerce or composable storefronts.

• Proficient with Shopify Storefront API or Salesforce Commerce Cloud Composable Storefront.

• Knowledge of testing frameworks such as Jest, Cypress, or Playwright.

• Experience with SCAYLE.

• Experience working across asynchronous distributed teams across multiple time zones.
