Lead Transmission Line Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Lead and manage intricate transmission line designs from initial concept through to final design, encompassing EFM, conductor sizing, induction, impedance, losses, and voltage drop analysis.

• Offer senior-level technical guidance and expertise to the design team.

• Execute economic evaluations of conductors, perform lightning performance assessments, grounding calculations, and determine electrical clearances in accordance with NESC and relevant standards.

• Interpret and apply regulations set forth by NERC, FERC, and regional authorities.

• Draft and assess specifications, data sheets, RFQs, bid evaluations, vendor drawings, and purchasing recommendations.

• Partner with project managers on defining scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, construction support, and managing change orders.

• Conduct and review QA/QC processes for engineering deliverables, production drawings, CAD outputs, and construction administration tasks.

• Address design-related issues encountered in the field.

• Perform and lead field inspections, measurements, calculations, and installation assessments for both public and private clients.

• Create and deliver technical reports.

• Assist in marketing and business development initiatives.

• Foster relationships with clients and contractors.

• Mentor, lead, and support less experienced engineers.

• Ensure effective communication across disciplines and adherence to company safety, quality, and performance standards.


⛳️ Requirements

• B.S. in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or Power Engineering (or a related field).

• Over 8 years of experience in transmission line engineering (design, analysis, modeling, or similar roles).

• More than 8 years of experience within an electric utility, EPC, or engineering consulting firm.

• At least 8 years of experience using PLS-CADD.

• Experience in people management and mentorship.

• Proven ability to oversee and review the work of others for quality assurance and provide constructive feedback.

• Capability to plan and manage tasks while effectively communicating obstacles to completing assignments within budget and schedule.

• Familiarity with the practical application of industry standards such as NESC, IEEE, ANSI, FERC-881, and FAC-008 standards (preferred).

• Proactive approach towards continuous learning to become an expert in the programs and services represented (preferred).
