Lead Structural Engineer – Nuclear

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead a team of structural engineers

• Collaborate with clients and engineers from various disciplines

• Oversee a diverse range of structural engineering projects

• Utilize expertise in materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design

• Engage with different clients on projects and maintain communication as needed

• Direct the preparation and review of design calculations, specifications, reports, and other deliverables

• Assist designers in the development of drawings

• Supervise and mentor team members in producing high-quality engineering deliverables

• Conduct structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete components, and foundations using software tools

• Travel to client and vendor offices for design assessments

• Visit plant sites for construction coordination and field verification of designs

• Champion the use of automation and AI to enhance workflows, minimize rework, and provide cost-effective designs

• Manage engineers who program or script to automate engineering tasks and evaluate automated outputs

⛳️ Requirements

• BSCE or MSCE from an ABET-accredited institution

• A minimum of ten years of experience as part of a project team in the design and analysis of industrial, heavy commercial, or nuclear facility structures

• Proficient in structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS

• Familiarity with design codes and standards like ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Authorization to work in the U.S. is required; Sargent & Lundy does not provide work authorization sponsorship

• PE or SE license is preferred but not mandatory

• Experience with on-site construction support is advantageous but not essential

• Background in overseeing automation with Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel is valued but not required

• Additional education in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields is appreciated but not required
