Civil Engineer – Estimator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.

📋 Description

• Execute accurate digital quantity takeoffs and generate cost estimates ranging from preliminary to final for residential, commercial, and heavy civil projects.

• Transform engineering drawings, civil plans, and site documents into actionable cost frameworks and deliverables.

• Create preliminary estimates utilizing Construction Link.

• Assemble final bid packages employing Beam and associated tools.

• Compute cut/fill volumes, mass grading, land clearing, grubbing, stump extraction, and earthmoving necessities.

• Assess erosion and sediment control strategies, retaining wall requirements, and site preparation expenses.

• Estimate costs for residential and commercial foundations.

• Evaluate expenses related to underground utility installations, encompassing water mains, sanitary sewers, electrical conduits, gas lines, and stormwater management systems.

• Calculate the needs for onsite wastewater treatment systems.

• Estimate heavy civil infrastructure, including utility connections for subdivisions, roadways, walkways, driveways, garages, and curb/gutter flatwork.

• Engage in onboarding and transition to independent takeoff delivery.

• Work closely with Alex on workflow management and with Danny regarding complex technical escalations.

• Detect project risks, scope gaps, and cost drivers early during the takeoff process.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated success in civil construction estimating.

• Over 5 years of experience in senior civil estimating is strongly preferred.

• A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent hands-on civil field experience.

• Extensive knowledge of foundations, cut/fill earthmoving, underground utilities, and heavy civil projects.

• Solid background in residential construction, along with experience in commercial and civil projects.

• Previous experience estimating or managing Federal/Government contracts is highly desirable.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Strong independent problem-solving abilities.

• Keen attention to detail and accuracy while working under bid deadlines.

• Familiarity with Kubla, Construction Link, Beam, or similar civil takeoff platforms.

• Capability to read and interpret complex blueprint sets, grading plans, utility schematics, and structural specifications.

• Experience with Google Workspace, Slack, Microsoft Teams, and email communications.
