This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of solution architecture from the stages of discovery and design through to implementation and production adoption.

• Convert business requirements, limitations, and technical specifications into secure, scalable, and maintainable designs.

• Establish technical direction across teams and ensure consistency throughout the broader OnVUE solution landscape.

• Assist engineering teams during implementation while preserving the architectural vision.

• Assess trade-offs related to scalability, resilience, security, maintainability, integration risks, and business value.

• Address complex architecture, integration, and build challenges, escalating decisions that fall outside the assigned scope.

• Create repeatable technical patterns and ensure adherence to architectural standards.

• Mentor engineers and architects, clearly communicating recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Shape the architecture of Pearson’s OnVUE online proctored testing platform.

• Guide multiple engineering teams as they modernize secure, scalable, and reliable assessment delivery.


⛳️ Requirements

• Progressive experience in software engineering, solution architecture, or a related technical field.

• Extensive experience in Java enterprise architecture, particularly with Spring and Spring Boot.

• Practical experience in architecture across both front-end and back-end technologies, including Angular.

• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Azure; strong experience with AWS is also applicable.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes, containers, orchestration, and cloud-native delivery.

• Experience in designing and scaling reliable, distributed applications while maintaining operational health.

• Strong experience in third-party integration, API, and service integration.

• Proven track record of leading technical decisions across multiple teams without relying on formal authority.

• Excellent communication, facilitation, documentation, and mentoring skills.

• Experience with LLMs, machine learning, video/audio/image processing, or desktop products is beneficial but not mandatory.
