Lead Software Engineer, Plan Intelligence

📋 Description

• Collaborate with project stakeholders to gain a clear understanding of both functional and non-functional requirements.

• Foster a collaborative team atmosphere and work alongside colleagues to meet business goals.

• Plan work estimations and forecasting effectively.

• Follow architecture, design, implementation, security standards, and best practices meticulously.

• Investigate and propose solutions for development and design challenges.

• Analyze integration requirements and design and plan necessary integrations.

• Create technical documentation, which includes software design evaluation plans and test results.

• Write high-quality, straightforward, clear, and testable code.

• Implement unit and integration tests while also conducting functional and performance testing.

• Engage in code reviews and collaborative programming sessions.

• Develop reusable software components.

• Enhance existing software performance by diagnosing and resolving critical issues.

• Establish development practices and processes to streamline workflows.

• Manage and mentor software engineers to foster their growth.

• Lead the design and delivery of Plan Intelligence, an internal analytics platform for plan portfolio analysis, market insights, consumer segments, and EI packages.

• Own features end-to-end across a server-rendered React and TypeScript front end, supported by a Python FastAPI service and backed by PostgreSQL on AWS.

• Collaborate with data engineering on pipelines that feed plan, geospatial, and margin data into the platform.

• Build and fine-tune interactive mapping, charting, and export experiences using extensive plan and community datasets.

• Extend LLM-assisted features developed on AWS Bedrock while managing output quality, latency, and cost.

• Provide support for the platform across development, UAT, and production environments on AWS, utilizing monitoring and product analytics.


⛳️ Requirements

• Master’s degree in computer science with 5+ years of experience in web technology stack and web standards; OR a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, or a related field with 7+ years of experience in web technology stack and web standards.

• Possess a growth mindset and a readiness to acquire new skills, technologies, and frameworks.

• Demonstrate excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.

• Have a proven history of managing a team of developers successfully.

• Exhibit a track record of architecting, scaling, and implementing complex technical solutions.

• Proven leadership experience in Agile environments, with outstanding communication and collaboration skills, and a passion for mentoring and empowering team members.

• Ability to convey complex technical information to various stakeholders both verbally and in writing.

• Strong expertise in JavaScript (7+ years).

• High proficiency in React.js (5+ years).

• Strong knowledge of semantic HTML and modern CSS, including CSS-in-JS, accessibility, and responsive design principles.

• Proficiency in TypeScript and modern React tooling, such as Vite, server-side rendering, client-side routing, and a server-state library like TanStack Query or its equivalent.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, package managers, and debugging and troubleshooting complex issues.

• Proficiency in Python with FastAPI and strong SQL skills for relational databases like PostgreSQL.

• Hands-on experience in building, deploying, and managing containerized services on AWS (ECS, S3, IAM) using Docker and infrastructure as code.

• Experience integrating enterprise single sign-on (OIDC, Microsoft Entra ID) and securely managing server-side sessions and tokens.

• Experience in writing automated unit and integration tests for both front end and back end.

• Preferred: experience with data analytics and reporting interfaces; geospatial data and interactive mapping; generative AI and LLM integrations; data pipelines, streaming, and data lake formats; A/B testing and product analytics instrumentation; backend development; cloud platforms; third-party integrations; and data related to homebuilding, real estate, or construction domains.
