Lead Software Engineer – Network Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Asia.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain services and tools that automate the network lifecycle, encompassing day-0 provisioning, ongoing changes, drift detection, and operational verification.

• Ensure that network modifications are safe and transparent through CI/CD workflows, diff/review tools, staged rollouts/rollbacks, audit trails, and guardrails.

• Create observability systems across multiple sites, which include telemetry pipelines, signal quality assessments, and incident-investigation tools.

• Integrate source-of-truth data, provide APIs, and establish dependable automation that connects the network with the cloud platform.

• Take ownership of architecture and technical decisions for the APAC region and ensure alignment with European teams.

• Collaborate with network engineers and SREs to transform operational challenges into high-quality tooling.

• Recruit and onboard the initial regional engineers, establish code quality and engineering standards, and mentor the team.

• Oversee large-scale, multi-stakeholder projects across various regions.

• Lead regional recruitment efforts, including defining job profiles, conducting interviews, and making hiring decisions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of professional software engineering experience, including roles as a tech lead or team lead with extensive ownership.

• Exceptional coding abilities and a strong ownership mindset; capable of shipping and operating reliable services.

• Proficiency in Go or willingness to transition to it.

• Python skills are a plus; familiarity with other languages may be beneficial for OSS debugging and fixes.

• Ability to work independently in an early-stage environment, make informed decisions with partial data, and create processes from the ground up.

• Eagerness to remain hands-on while leading and developing a team.

• Interest in infrastructure and/or networking.

• Applicants must be authorized to work in the country where they apply and provide proof of employment eligibility.

• A background in networking, CCNP/education, data-center networking exposure, automation/infra tooling, low-level networking/datapath, high-load services, observability platforms, open-source contributions, and engineering team building are additional advantages.
