This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +3 more states.
• Develop, test, and launch live streaming video platforms.
• Conduct automation testing throughout the entire video lifecycle, including acquisition, processing, delivery, and playback.
• Create and sustain internal automated QA systems that integrate with continuous integration and deployment methodologies.
• Establish and implement metrics and alerts for monitoring live streaming events and identifying reliability concerns.
• Mentor and support engineers while promoting collaboration and technical excellence.
• Collaborate with internal services to enhance QA workflow automation.
• Review testing plans at various stages in the video pipeline.
• Analyze test reports and document identified bugs.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans and test cases.
• Monitor and track defect resolutions in collaboration with developers.
• Provide QA support before and after deployment, including occasional evening and weekend shifts.
• Investigate and resolve live streaming workflow problems using logs and metrics.
• Ensure platform reliability, scalability, and availability for both developers and internal customer teams.
• Test new product features and provide constructive feedback to product development.
• Collaborate with platform teams to build and test comprehensive end-to-end video streaming workflows.
• Align testing plans for live end-to-end video lifecycle assessments.
• Support video infrastructure QA and monitoring for high-profile launches such as UFC and NFL.
• Standardize regression practices and enhance automation QA coverage.
• Proven experience in developing a pytest automated test framework or similar, with a good understanding of automated testing strategies.
• Experience working with distributed systems and developing QA strategies for fault-tolerant architectures.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in live streaming video or distributed software QA.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
• Capability to drive issues to resolution while providing root cause analysis.
• Familiarity with HLS, DASH, CMAF, SRT, Zixi, RTP, and RTMP protocols.
• Experience with codecs such as H264, HEVC, VP9, AV1, and AAC.
• Knowledge of DRM, SCTE-104/35, Closed Captioning, and Digital Ad Insertion techniques.
• Experience with AWS Media Services or equivalent vendors.
• Proficiency with REST APIs, JSON, and XML.
• Ability to collaborate with internal business units and teams with diverse technical expertise.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience with Docker and ideally Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or OCI and Terraform.
• Exposure to Python REST APIs, FastAPI, and Celery.
• BS degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Familiarity with Rust is considered a plus.
• Experience in live streaming operations is an additional advantage.
