Lead Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Supervise the design, development, and functioning of distributed application architectures that support mission-critical APIs and data services.

• Lead strategies for service decomposition related to GraphQL subgraphs and backend APIs across both synchronous serverless and asynchronous containerized environments.

• Establish resiliency and observability strategies, encompassing health modeling, dead-letter queues (DLQs), autoscaling, distributed tracing, structured logging, and dashboards.

• Ensure security is inherent in the design with TLS, OIDC/JWT authentication, least-privilege IAM, and encryption policies.

• Oversee serverless computing, container orchestration, and secure cloud networking practices.

• Manage infrastructure-as-code deployments while ensuring compliance and auditability.

• Promote CI/CD practices to facilitate zero-downtime deployments, blue/green rollouts, and automated health checks.

• Guide the development of GraphQL subgraphs using Apollo Server, focusing on resolver design, schema evolution, and validation directives.

• Lead the development of Golang services for high-throughput APIs, webhooks, and background processing.

• Design and enhance relational data models along with ORM-based persistence layers.

• Architect dependable messaging workflows utilizing queues, event buses, and orchestration frameworks.

• Mentor engineers while collaborating with product, compliance, and security teams.

• Deliver secure, compliant, and scalable services that meet latency and error SLOs.

⛳️ Requirements

• US Citizenship or Permanent Residence Status is required.

• Expert-level proficiency in TypeScript and GoLang.

• Strong knowledge of Node.js and Go runtime patterns.

• Practical experience with Apollo Server (GraphQL), Express, and RESTful API design.

• Familiarity with GORM, PrismaORM, or TypeORM.

• Experience in relational schema design.

• Proficient in at least one major cloud provider (AWS/GCP/Azure).

• Experience with serverless functions, container orchestration, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using CDK/Terraform.

• Strong background in TLS, OIDC/JWT, IAM/RBAC, and KMS or equivalent encryption services.

• Experience with distributed tracing, structured logging, metrics/alerting pipelines, queues, event buses, DLQs, and workflow engines.

• Experience with automated pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools.

• Preferred: Knowledge of GraphQL federation and schema governance.

• Preferred: Experience with multi-cloud strategies and cost optimization.

• Preferred: Background in high-volume data processing and event-driven architecture.
