Lead Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Oversee software engineers in the development of critical business applications.

• Define the technical vision and establish architectural guidelines.

• Propel initiatives for AWS cloud adoption and modernization.

• Guarantee the scalability, performance, security, and reliability of solutions.

• Advocate for DevOps methodologies, CI/CD processes, automation, and AI-driven development practices.

• Assist in incident resolution, uphold operational excellence, and foster continuous improvement.

• Offer technical guidance and take ownership of delivery for a team focused on building and managing scalable cloud-native applications on AWS.

• Influence architectural choices, engineering best practices, and solution design across Spring Boot microservices, OpenSearch platforms, CI/CD, observability, and AWS infrastructure.

• Work closely with product, architecture, and platform teams to create secure, resilient, and high-performance solutions.

• Mentor engineers, enhance development processes, and ensure the successful achievement of business goals.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree along with 10+ years of experience, including 5+ years in a leadership capacity.

• Extensive experience with Java (latest version preferred), Spring Boot, microservices, and REST APIs.

• Practical knowledge of AWS services, such as ECS/Fargate, IAM, Application Load Balancer (ALB), RDS, CloudWatch, and Secrets Manager.

• Familiarity with OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, Docker, GitHub, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Strong grasp of distributed systems, cloud architecture, observability, DevOps practices, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, event-driven architecture, and API integrations.

• Background in performance optimization, scalability, and reliability of cloud-based applications.

• Knowledge of AI-assisted development tools and contemporary software engineering practices.

• Excellent technical leadership and communication abilities, with a talent for mentoring and coaching team members, building robust stakeholder relationships, and collaborating effectively across cross-functional teams.

• Proven problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making capabilities, alongside a strong sense of ownership and accountability for project results.

• Ability to effectively manage conflicts, adapt to shifting priorities, influence stakeholders, and foster alignment across teams.

• Established track record of leading cross-functional teams and ensuring the successful delivery of intricate, cloud-native solutions within a collaborative and fast-paced setting.
