Lead Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Establish the technical vision for Alti, the AI agent product of Alternative Payments.

• Take charge of the technical direction pertaining to conversational AI, agents, and automated processes.

• Set standards for evaluating LLMs, managing prompts, and ensuring monitoring and observability.

• Lead the design of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and agent frameworks while making crucial trade-off decisions.

• Facilitate the shift from LLM-only functionalities to proprietary machine learning models.

• Deploy ML models into production, ensuring effective monitoring and a continuous feedback loop.

• Identify machine learning opportunities within the accounts payable platform and collaborate with Product to refine them.

• Act as an AI expert within the product organization by reviewing designs, collaborating with engineers, and sharing best practices.

• Engage in hands-on coding on a weekly basis.

⛳️ Requirements

• Significant experience as a software engineer, demonstrating a history of making technical decisions for product features from start to finish.

• Recent hands-on involvement with AI products over the past year, including LLMs, agents, or AI functionalities, taking ownership of substantial system components.

• Familiarity with chatbots/conversational AI, RAG, and LLM evaluation processes.

• Proficiency in at least one programming language: Go, TypeScript/JavaScript, or Python.

• Ability to independently establish processes in new areas, rather than merely executing existing ones.

• A product-oriented mindset focused on delivering value to users.

• Comfort in a dynamic environment with responsibility for multiple aspects of the delivery process.

• Professional working proficiency in English.

• Experience in deploying ML models into production with monitoring and feedback mechanisms.

• Knowledge of AI monitoring and observability tools.

• Experience in prompt engineering.

• Background with autonomous or personal agents operating across platforms like Slack, Teams, or WhatsApp.

• Experience in fintech, payments, or financial services.

• Background in both early-stage startups (Seed to Series B) and larger tech firms.
