This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Norway.
• Oversee the research strategy at Iris.ai focused on LLM evaluation and interpretability.
• Develop innovative evaluation techniques, metrics, and experimental structures.
• Conduct thorough experiments, benchmarking, and ablation studies.
• Convert research findings into prototypes and production capabilities.
• Offer scientific direction to both researchers and engineers.
• Work closely with product and engineering teams.
• Publish research and actively participate in the AI research community.
• Lead and co-author research grant proposals for EU and national funding.
• Write and disseminate research articles.
• Mentor interns and supervise master's thesis students.
• Investigate topics such as LLM grounding, faithfulness, task adherence, mechanistic interpretation, model interpretability, uncertainty and confidence, evaluation frameworks, agentic reasoning and control, as well as translation and multilingual NLP.
• PhD in Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• Extensive hands-on experience with R&D grants and proposal writing, including Horizon Europe, EIC, and national or international research funding.
• Over 5 years of industry or applied research experience.
• Strong foundation in NLP, with knowledge of transformers, semantic search, and RAG.
• Practical experience with LLMs and their evaluation processes.
• Robust software engineering skills, particularly in Python.
• Publications in Machine Learning or NLP conferences or journals.
• Ability to work within European time zones.
• Proficient in Python OOP practices.
• Familiarity with PyTorch, Transformers, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, custom and fine-tuned models, RAG pipelines, multi-agent frameworks, evaluation tools, AWS, Docker, HPC, Git, CI/CD, and reproducible research workflows.
