This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Oversee the upkeep, modernization, and continuous enhancement of a vital application that supports Allstate Dealer Services.
• Create, develop, test, and sustain backend services and APIs that facilitate enterprise payment solutions.
• Contribute to the architecture, technical guidance, and development of scalable microservices and distributed systems.
• Take responsibility for applications in production, monitoring, troubleshooting, and providing support.
• Engage in Agile ceremonies such as iteration planning, daily standups, and retrospectives.
• Work collaboratively with product teams, engineers, operations, business units, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality, customer-focused solutions.
• Implement clean coding practices, test-driven development, conduct code reviews, and automate testing processes.
• Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines and deployment methods.
• Ensure the reliability, scalability, security, performance, adherence to coding standards, and continual improvement of the platform.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in software development utilizing C# and the .NET framework.
• Proficient in designing and constructing REST APIs, including Swagger/OpenAPI documentation, versioning, testing, and service integration patterns.
• Strong grasp of software development principles, object-oriented design concepts, and contemporary engineering practices.
• Knowledgeable in relational database design, indexing techniques, query optimization, and SQL development.
• Familiarity with Test Driven Development (TDD) and testing frameworks such as xUnit, NUnit, MSTest, or equivalent.
• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices using technologies like GitHub, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, SonarQube, or similar tools.
• Background in developing and maintaining production services and implementing observability solutions using Datadog or comparable monitoring tools.
• Experience with Kubernetes and Docker technologies.
• Understanding of modernizing applications and services towards current .NET platforms, including .NET 8.
• Experience working within an Agile/Scrum or XP work environment, or equivalent.
• Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Preferred: Experience with .NET Core and contemporary .NET application development methodologies.
• Preferred: Familiarity with Java and enterprise frameworks such as Spring Boot, Spring Data, Spring Security, or related technologies.
• Preferred: Experience in building and managing high-traffic distributed systems.
• Preferred: Knowledge of quality and security scanning tools such as SonarQube, Fortify, Contrast, or similar technologies.
• Preferred: Experience with Kafka or similar event-streaming technologies.
• Preferred: Practical cloud experience with AWS, PCF, Azure, or other cloud platforms and application performance monitoring tools.
• Preference for candidates with 5 or more years of experience.
• Candidates must agree to a background investigation.
