Lead Infrastructure Operations Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Act as the senior technical authority overseeing infrastructure operations at the Virginia data center.

• Lead the enhancement of software and hardware tools for infrastructure to improve deployment, connectivity, and user experience.

• Provide project management and technical guidance for large-scale technology deployments and facility expansions.

• Promote continuous improvement in infrastructure design with an emphasis on autonomy and scalability.

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve intricate production challenges.

• Serve as the escalation point for infrastructure support issues.

• Collaborate with director-level stakeholders and various departments to align objectives and integrate tools, systems, and projects.

• Manage relationships with contractors and vendors to deliver localized services and cost-effective contracts.

• Advocate for best practices, mentor and coach engineers, and encourage technical excellence.

• Oversee infrastructure capacity within the data center.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in data center or enterprise infrastructure operations, including hardware, networking, and systems support, with a proven track record of increasing responsibility.

• A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline.

• Proven capability to lead technical projects and implementations from the planning phase through to delivery.

• Familiarity with alerting, monitoring, and incident management within a production environment.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, particularly with director-level and cross-department audiences.

• Experience in coaching and mentoring engineers.

• Proven track record in negotiating and managing vendor and contractor relationships, especially in telecommunications.

• Knowledge of hybrid on-premises and cloud infrastructure environments.

• Scripting or automation proficiency utilized to enhance operational tools and deployment processes.

• Experience in facility buildouts, colocation, or management of regional services and contracts.

• Experience in managing assets using ITSM and DCIM tools.
