This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +2 more states.
• Establish and manage a comprehensive enterprise API ecosystem.
• Connect API providers and consumers through a cohesive, business-aligned API catalog.
• Define, develop, and advocate for enterprise API architecture, design patterns, standards, transition architectures, and target-state architectures.
• Oversee enterprise-wide API governance, which includes intake, design review, lifecycle management, and compliance enforcement.
• Collaborate with architecture, engineering, security, data, and business teams to promote API standards and reusable integration patterns.
• Build and expand enterprise API platforms for federated development, developer self-service, and catalog-driven discovery.
• Create AI-enabled governance capabilities, such as automation, AI-ready API design, and lifecycle gap detection.
• Define and implement reference architectures for event-driven architectures, microservices integration, LLM integration, RAG, and vector data platforms.
• Design and operationalize agentic ecosystems, including orchestration frameworks and MCP-based integrations.
• Set governance metrics and KPIs for API adoption, lifecycle maturity, reuse, performance, and compliance.
• Design and present executive dashboards and reports on API ecosystem health and integration outcomes.
• Lead the development of prototypes, proof-of-concepts, and evaluations of emerging API, AI, and integration technologies.
• Enhance engineering velocity, scalability, and API quality through standardized practices and platform capabilities.
• Coach and mentor architects and engineering teams on API design, governance, and integration best practices.
• Work with external partners, vendors, and industry forums to align integration strategy with industry trends.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience as a senior architect or technical lead in large-scale enterprise systems.
• 8+ years of experience in API architecture, integration, or application development.
• Strong experience with API governance frameworks and lifecycle management.
• Hands-on experience with API management platforms, such as Apigee, Kong, Azure API Management, or AWS API Gateway.
• Expertise in API security standards, including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and mTLS.
• Strong knowledge of REST, GraphQL, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Familiarity with monitoring, observability, and operational standards for APIs and microservices.
• Experience working in multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environments.
• Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
• Experience in building and scaling enterprise API programs and governance models preferred.
• Experience with AI/ML integration patterns, LLM ecosystems, or agentic frameworks preferred.
• Exposure to platform engineering and developer experience practices preferred.
• Home internet connection with a minimum download speed of 25 Mbps and upload speed of 10 Mbps.
