This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take charge of the technical design and execution of intricate FinTech and payment-related systems.
• Make key architectural choices and set engineering standards and practices.
• Develop and maintain APIs, integrations, services, and data systems.
• Design, code, review, debug, test, document, and deploy software.
• Tackle challenges related to payments, financial data, transactions, reconciliation, and third-party integrations.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership to convert business needs into technical solutions.
• Recognize technical risks and enhance reliability, scalability, security, and performance.
• Mentor and guide engineers through code reviews and technical advice.
• Keep comprehensive documentation of payment-system architecture.
• Identify and manage edge cases within the payment system explicitly.
• Oversee payment-system regression detection and uptime monitoring systems.
• Transform sketches, wireframes, and high-fidelity mockups into web and mobile applications.
• Deliver user-friendly, modern, tested, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams.
• Maintain the development workflow utilizing team tools.
• Communicate through Basecamp, Slack, and video conferencing.
• Integrate feedback and deliver with quality and efficiency in an ambiguous setting.
• Employ contemporary AI-powered methods and practices.
• Over 7 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Extensive experience in building and scaling production payments software.
• Profound understanding of backend architecture, APIs, databases, and distributed systems.
• Experience in FinTech, payments, banking, financial services, or transaction-heavy systems.
• Strong grasp of payment flows, transaction processing, webhooks, reconciliation, or financial integrations.
• Experience with integrating third-party APIs and services like payment processors, banks, or financial platforms.
• Significant experience with TypeScript/Node.js, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, and modern cloud infrastructure.
• Comfortable working across the stack, including React/React Native.
• Strong architectural instincts and practical technical trade-offs.
• Excellent debugging and problem-solving abilities.
• Capable of working with a high level of ownership and independence.
• Passionate about the entire product development process.
• Ability to use an iterative approach to maintain momentum and consistently deliver valuable software.
• Proficient in leveraging AI tools while adhering to sound engineering principles.
• Effective communicator with clients and teammates.
• Self-motivated, quick to learn, and relentless in pursuit of knowledge.
• Inquisitive about technology and its implications.
