Lead DevOps Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Design, scale, and lead dependable, high-performance, secure production ecosystems for enterprise clients.

• Create and implement secure, scalable GCP Landing Zones.

• Serve as the technical authority for DevOps and SRE methodologies on GCP.

• Architect high-availability systems within intricate multi-tenant environments.

• Standardize enterprise-level infrastructure-as-code principles utilizing Terraform, Ansible, or Deployment Manager.

• Propel monitoring and observability initiatives using Grafana, Prometheus, and Google Cloud Observability.

• Design, optimize, and oversee scalable CI/CD pipelines.

• Lead complex, high-priority production incident responses and conduct root cause analyses.

• Foster a proactive, blame-free post-mortem culture.

• Manage intricate workloads while mentoring intermediate and junior engineers.

• Effectively communicate project milestones and technical roadmaps to internal leadership and external enterprise stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of hands-on experience in a DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Site Reliability role.

• Minimum of 2 years in a senior or lead position.

• Proven experience in architecting and managing GCP infrastructure, security frameworks, and strategies for cost optimization.

• Experience in designing and deploying secure, scalable GCP Landing Zones.

• Expert-level knowledge of Kubernetes (GKE), Docker, and complex container orchestration at scale.

• Advanced skills in UNIX/Linux system administration and performance tuning.

• Proficient scripting capabilities in Python, Go, or Bash/Shell.

• Strong expertise in configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.

• Degree or diploma in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent practical industry experience.

• Google Cloud Professional certifications are highly preferred and advantageous.
