Lead Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the design and execution of data ingestion and transformation solutions utilizing SQL and dbt.

• Manage end-to-end ELT pipelines with dbt and Athena.

• Create and implement data quality frameworks, which encompass validation rules, testing methodologies, and monitoring systems.

• Utilize Medallion Architecture best practices throughout data pipelines.

• Develop and refine Athena SQL queries and dbt models.

• Build and improve data validation and ingestion frameworks, incorporating Streamlit-based UI components when necessary.

• Provide guidance on best practices in SQL, dbt, data engineering, governance, and pipeline reliability.

• Recognize risks, bottlenecks, and data quality challenges, and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.

• Promote documentation and ongoing enhancement of data platform processes.

• Construct dependable, scalable, and high-quality data pipelines that support business and analytics operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in Data Engineering.

• Strong practical experience with SQL (Essential).

• Strong practical experience with dbt (Essential).

• Significant experience in creating ELT pipelines and data transformation solutions.

• Extensive experience with AWS Athena and crafting complex SQL queries.

• Solid grasp of data modeling and large-scale data processing.

• Familiarity with AWS services and data platforms (Preferred).

• Experience with Glue, S3, EMR, Lambda, Terraform, or CloudFormation (Preferred).

• Strong client-facing leadership skills.
