Lead Consultant – Microsoft Azure Cloud

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Designs, constructs, manages, and operates platform infrastructure and application environments, with an emphasis on automation and infrastructure as code.

• Leads engineering practices centered on test-driven development and continuous delivery of infrastructure.

• Creates, develops, manages, and operates continuous delivery frameworks and tools.

• Automates the lifecycle management of platform components.

• Manages infrastructure-as-a-service layers across both hosted and cloud-based platforms.

• Develops monitoring solutions utilizing tools like Datadog, New Relic, Azure Monitor, and others.

• Creates log analytics and logging-as-a-service solutions for hosted applications.

• Integrates various platform components and develops services that emphasize open source and seamless developer interaction.

• Assesses performance, demand, and capacity trends to formulate scalability strategies.

• Identifies and resolves availability and performance challenges across hardware, operating environments, networks, and application layers.

• Recommends and maintains policies and procedures related to technology.

• Implements, configures, and oversees applications and platforms that support Allstate’s engineering and business teams.

• Takes ownership of system lifecycles, integrations, security, maintenance, reliability, and compliance.

• Coordinates enhancements, troubleshoots issues, and ensures that service level agreements (SLAs) are consistently met.

• Enhances tools and processes that promote efficient application use.

⛳️ Requirements

• Preferably 7 or more years of experience.

• At least 5 years of experience with Azure Cloud Services.

• Profound understanding of Microsoft Entra ID and its relationship with Azure and M365.

• In-depth knowledge of Azure Management Groups and Policy.

• Strong understanding of Azure Regions, Availability Zones, VNets, Private Endpoints, and ExpressRoute.

• Experience with GCP services including Compute, IAM, Networking, and image management.

• Background in Infrastructure Engineering, Infrastructure Operations, and Application Knowledge.

• Experience in testing and programming.

• Robust background in Software Development / Projects and constructing Cloud (Azure) Solutions.

• Capability to mentor team members on engineering practices such as extreme programming, product mindset, cloud/as-a-service approach, and infrastructure as code.

• Willingness and ability to implement necessary infrastructure and process modifications.

• Capacity to thrive in an Extreme Programming environment and paired programming/engineering model.

• Ability to facilitate diverse teams, manage multiple tasks, and work under pressure to achieve aggressive schedule goals.

• Proficient in working effectively across organizational and geographical boundaries.

• Talent for identifying innovative solutions for technical support challenges.

• Effective communication skills with diverse groups and ability to present ideas clearly.

• Successful completion of a background investigation.
