Lead Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Bulgaria.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and secure systems and APIs for real-time applications utilized by millions of users.

• Take ownership of the complete development lifecycle, from feature architecture to workstream breakdown and implementation guidance.

• Produce high-performance, thoroughly tested code that meets reliability and scalability standards.

• Establish and uphold best practices regarding code quality, design patterns, testing, and system performance.

• Analyze, debug, and resolve intricate production issues.

• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to align technical solutions with business objectives.

• Provide mentorship and coaching to engineers through constructive guidance and feedback.

• Influence the team roadmap and technical direction while promoting ownership and continuous learning.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in object-oriented backend development using languages such as C# or Java.

• Advanced knowledge of OOP principles, design patterns, and backend architecture.

• Capability to design, build, and scale distributed systems in cloud environments like AWS or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

• Extensive experience in developing and maintaining automated test suites, including unit, integration, and performance tests.

• Proven track record of mentoring engineers, conducting code and design reviews, and influencing technical decisions across cross-functional teams.

• A proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement, code quality, and engineering best practices.

• May be required to obtain a gaming license issued by the appropriate state agency as a condition of employment.
