Lead Backend Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Argentina.

📋 Description

• Design and develop scalable backend systems utilizing Java.

• Lead the design and execution of distributed systems architecture.

• Create and enhance applications that are concurrent and multi-threaded.

• Construct and oversee big data pipelines and infrastructure for high-volume data ingestion, processing, and storage.

• Manage containerized workloads through Kubernetes, focusing on deployment strategies, scaling policies, and resource allocation.

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to establish service contracts, APIs, and integration frameworks.

• Implement solutions for observability and monitoring.

• Assist in production deployments and resolve complex issues.

• Promote initiatives for continuous improvement.

• Contribute to the growth and expansion of Blend as a Lead Backend Data Engineer.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong expertise in Java, with a solid grasp of advanced language features and best practices.

• Extensive knowledge of concurrency patterns, multi-threading, thread synchronization (locks, barriers, mutexes), atomic operations, and volatile semantics.

• Proven experience in designing and implementing distributed systems, focusing on consistency, fault tolerance, and data replication.

• Practical experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration, deployment strategies, and service management.

• Strong foundation in SQL and database design principles.

• Experience in system profiling, performance analysis, and optimization methods.

• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools like Grafana, Prometheus, or Loki.

• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and expertise in debugging complex distributed system problems.

• Strong communication skills, with a capacity to mentor and work collaboratively with team members.

• Proficient in English (advanced level required for effective communication with global teams).

• Over 5 years of experience in Backend Engineering or related fields such as Systems Engineering or Full-Stack Development, with proven proficiency in distributed systems and multi-threaded application design.

• Experience with the Spring Framework or other modern Java backend frameworks is advantageous.

• Background in Kafka or event-streaming architectures is a plus.

• Familiarity with reactive programming frameworks or reactive systems design is a bonus.

• Previous experience in programmatic advertising or real-time data processing systems is a plus.
