Language Associate, French

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Convert Avaaz campaigns from English to French for dissemination in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada, and to French-speaking members globally.

• Offer technical assistance for campaign development, which includes setting up email blasts and landing pages within the Avaaz website backend.

• Aid in drafting and testing of campaigns.

• Conduct research on relevant issue-specific sources from the press, NGOs, and other organizations.

• Oversee and enhance the French Avaaz website and other tools for functionality and language accuracy.

• Assist the French campaign team in composing and refining briefings, advocacy letters, press releases, media materials, and content for social media.

• Evaluate, manage, and support petitions submitted by French members on the Avaaz Community Petitions website.

• Collaborate closely with the French language lead and Member Support and Community Petitions teams; report to an Avaaz staff member.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication, as well as translation skills in French.

• Strong communication abilities in English.

• Professionalism, efficiency, and a results-oriented approach to meeting tight deadlines.

• Flexibility and capacity to adjust to fluctuating weekly workloads.

• A passion for and commitment to global justice, citizen empowerment, and social transformation.

• Proficient teamwork skills in a highly collaborative environment and structured team hierarchy.

• Familiarity with Google Suite and online communication platforms like Slack and Zoom.

• Ideally, an understanding of cultural and linguistic nuances across regions, including France and Canada.

• Candidates should ideally be located in European, Middle Eastern, African, or Americas time zones.

• Position is on an independent contractor/freelance basis; responsible for personal taxes and statutory contributions.
