Junior Transport Network Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Oversee and analyze alarms and events within the transport network.

• Determine main faults and assist in the diagnosis of incidents escalated from first-line teams, with a focus on WDM/DWDM and SDH technologies.

• Evaluate optical power (Tx/Rx), BER, Q-factor, and interface status to gauge network health.

• Implement guided remote diagnostics and recovery actions in accordance with approved procedures and change-control protocols.

• Ensure traceability and maintain precise documentation of all actions undertaken.

• Work collaboratively with senior engineers, vendors, and field teams, including Huawei and Nokia, to synchronize incident resolution, maintenance windows, and post-activity validations.

• Record findings and update relevant checklists.

• Assist in the ongoing enhancement of operational procedures within the NOC/SNOC environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Basic understanding of transport network technologies, including WDM/DWDM and/or SDH.

• Familiarity with optical networks and fiber infrastructure obtained through studies or up to 1 year of practical experience.

• Capability to adhere to technical procedures and interpret alarm data effectively.

• Skill in methodically contributing to fault diagnosis.

• Proficiency in clearly documenting technical actions.

• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and vendors.

• Genuine passion for telecommunications operations and a drive for continuous improvement.

• Interest in developing expertise in Huawei and/or Nokia equipment families.

• Basic technical English proficiency is advantageous.

• Experience in NOC/SNOC operational environments or relevant academic or certification background in networking or telecommunications is a plus.
