Junior Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Assist Art Director(s) throughout all phases of book cover development, from initial concept to design and pre-press.

• Design book covers for a diverse range of bestselling commercial fiction titles.

• Oversee and create multiple front cover designs and mechanicals.

• Aid supervising Art Director(s) with research, layouts, and presentations.

• Collaborate with editors, copy editors, production, and prepress teams.

• Generate print-ready digital files.

• Uphold high production standards.

• Adhere to deadlines and budget constraints.

• Provide thoughtful responses to feedback.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong skills in layout and typography.

• Proficient in the MAC environment and Adobe Suite: Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.

• Enthusiasm for book design, typography, color, and current trends.

• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities.

• Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and follow up promptly in a deadline-focused setting.

• Highly creative thinker willing to explore various visual approaches for each book cover.

• Strong problem-solving skills.

• Well-organized and adaptable.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.

• At least 6 months of prior design experience.

• Skills in hand lettering and illustration are advantageous.

• Knowledge of printing, prepress file/art management, and production is beneficial.

• Submission of a resume and cover letter is required for consideration.

• Must reside in the United States and be able to work primarily on Eastern Time for remote positions.
