Java Software Engineer – Connectors

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Design, architect, and develop resilient, scalable distributed systems that power Jitterbit's SaaS platform.

• Create and implement high-performance, fault-tolerant connector integrations and adapters essential for mission-critical business workflows.

• Architect distributed microservices utilizing cloud-native design patterns for multi-tenant SaaS environments.

• Construct and enhance data pipelines leveraging REST, SOAP, GraphQL, gRPC, and webhooks across synchronous, asynchronous, and event-driven architectures.

• Influence technical choices regarding crucial subsystems and contribute to RFCs and architectural assessments.

• Mentor junior engineers in system design principles.

• Implement monitoring, logging, and tracing while ensuring operational health and observability.

• Collaborate with Product, DevOps, and SRE teams to deliver features, address production incidents, and enhance platform reliability.

• Advocate for code reviews, testing strategies, security hardening, and performance enhancements.

• Contribute to initiatives focused on platform infrastructure and developer experience.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in designing and building large-scale, distributed backend systems that manage high throughput and low latency demands.

• More than 5 years of experience working with multi-tenant SaaS architectures in production settings.

• In-depth knowledge of tenant isolation, rate-limiting, and resource management.

• Proven track record in driving system design and engaging in architectural decision-making.

• Experience in mentoring engineers on design patterns and best practices.

• Strong problem-solving and debugging capabilities.

• Experience in diagnosing intricate production challenges in distributed systems.

• Extensive experience with microservices architecture, service decomposition, API design, and inter-service communication methodologies.

• Practical experience with AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes and serverless patterns.

• Strong grounding in SOLID principles, design patterns, system design, and unit, integration, and end-to-end testing strategies.

• Expert-level proficiency in Java 8+ with OOP, concurrency, performance tuning, memory management, Spring Boot, Guava, and Netty.

• Expertise in REST, SOAP, GraphQL, gRPC, HTTP semantics, caching, rate limiting, and error handling.

• Hands-on experience with RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka, AWS SQS/SNS, or similar message brokers/event streaming platforms.

• Understanding of at-least-once delivery, dead-letter queues, and stream processing.

• Strong SQL skills with an emphasis on query optimization and indexing.

• Experience with MongoDB, DynamoDB, Cassandra, and understanding of consistency trade-offs.

• Proficient with Docker and have production experience with Kubernetes or other container runtimes.

• Advanced knowledge of Git workflows and experience with GitHub or similar platforms.

• Working familiarity with GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD, or similar CI/CD tools.

• Ability to create build pipelines, deployment scripts, and infrastructure as code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools.

• Comfortable using the Linux command line.

• Understanding of memory allocation, processes, file systems, and networking.

• Experience with ELK, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, Zipkin, or similar observability tools.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• Capability to work efficiently within a distributed, remote team.
