Java Backend Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Create and execute high-performance, fault-tolerant connector integrations and adapters for essential business workflows.

• Design distributed microservices utilizing cloud-native design patterns suitable for multi-tenant SaaS environments.

• Develop and enhance data pipelines using REST, SOAP, GraphQL, gRPC, webhooks, as well as synchronous, asynchronous, and event-driven communication patterns.

• Influence technical decisions for vital subsystems and actively participate in RFCs and architectural evaluations.

• Guide junior engineers in system design principles.

• Establish monitoring, logging, and tracing implementations.

• Maintain the operational health and observability of deployed systems.

• Collaborate with Product, DevOps, and SRE teams to deliver features, address production incidents, and enhance platform reliability.

• Advocate for code reviews, testing strategies, security measures, and performance enhancements.

• Contribute to initiatives focused on platform infrastructure and developer experience.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in designing and building large-scale, distributed backend systems that meet high throughput and low latency demands.

• Familiarity with multi-tenant SaaS architectures in a production setting.

• Profound understanding of tenant isolation, rate-limiting, and resource management.

• Demonstrated capability to influence system design and engage in architectural discussions.

• Experience in mentoring engineers on design patterns and best practices.

• Strong analytical and debugging abilities.

• Proven track record of diagnosing complex production challenges in distributed systems.

• In-depth knowledge of microservices architecture, service decomposition, API design, and inter-service communication methodologies.

• Practical experience with AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.

• Acquainted with Kubernetes and serverless paradigms.

• Solid grounding in SOLID principles, design patterns, system design, and unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.

• Expert-level proficiency in Java 8+ with OOP, concurrency, performance tuning, memory management, Spring Boot, Guava, and Netty.

• Mastery of REST, SOAP, GraphQL, gRPC, HTTP semantics, caching, rate limiting, and error management.

• Hands-on experience with RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka, AWS SQS/SNS, or comparable message brokers/event streaming systems.

• Understanding of at-least-once delivery, dead-letter queues, and stream processing.

• Strong SQL skills, including query optimization and indexing.

• Experience with MongoDB, DynamoDB, Cassandra, and the related consistency trade-offs.

• Proficient in Docker with production experience using Kubernetes or other container runtimes.

• Advanced knowledge of Git workflows and experience with GitHub or similar platforms.

• Familiarity with GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD, or similar CI/CD tools.

• Capability to create build pipelines, deployment scripts, and infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools.

• Comfortable using the Linux command line.

• Understanding of OS-level concepts such as memory allocation, processes, file systems, and networking.

• Experience with ELK or Splunk, Prometheus or Grafana, and Jaeger or Zipkin.
