This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.

📋 Description

• Evaluate AI-generated Japanese scripts against English source materials to pinpoint translation and localization discrepancies.

• Revise dialogue and narration for a more natural and emotionally resonant spoken Japanese.

• Confirm accuracy and consistency in speaker and character attributions, names, titles, honorifics, and terminology.

• Assess character voice, relationship dynamics, hierarchy, and language register.

• Ensure that localized scripts maintain the story's meaning, character relationships, emotional intent, and key plot points.

• Review the pacing and timing to ensure dialogue sounds natural and aligns with the scene's context.

• Identify and rectify emotional delivery or direction issues while providing constructive feedback.

• Ensure consistency across characters, recurring terms, storylines, and episodes.

• Detect recurring weaknesses in AI-generated Japanese and suggest improvements.

• Deliver high-quality results within set review timelines.

⛳️ Requirements

• Native or near-native proficiency in Japanese writing, with a strong command of natural spoken Japanese.

• High level of professional English proficiency, capable of comprehending English source materials and collaborating with global teams.

• Experience in writing, editing, adapting, or localizing scripts or other long-form narrative content.

• Deep understanding of dialogue, character voice, emotional nuances, pacing, and serialized storytelling.

• Ability to differentiate between literal translation and culturally appropriate Japanese adaptations.

• Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to identify subtle issues in meaning, tone, character relationships, and continuity.

• Comfortable reviewing and enhancing AI-generated content.

• Prior experience in TV, film, anime, audio drama, web fiction, gaming, dubbing, subtitles, or other entertainment localization is highly desirable.

• Strong communication and organizational skills, with the capability to work independently and adhere to deadlines.

• A passion for storytelling and a commitment to bringing international content to Japanese audiences.
