IT Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa, +5 more countries.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of the IT function, encompassing systems, identity, access, onboarding, offboarding, tools, and vendor relationships.

• Develop a security framework for BYOD, contractor workflows, distributed teams, and cross-border data considerations.

• Streamline the SaaS stack, eradicate shadow IT, merge redundant tools, and achieve monthly cost savings.

• Establish identity and access management across the portfolio companies.

• Create and enhance processes that enable teams to operate more efficiently and centrally, incorporating AI-driven workflows.

• Ensure compliance with baseline cybersecurity, governance, and compliance standards.

• Collaborate with security consultants as necessary and oversee related projects from start to finish.

• Lead the creation and documentation of runbooks, articulating IT risks and trade-offs in straightforward language.

• Develop a scalable IT function that operates independently of the individual in this role.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in IT functions within start-up or scale-up environments.

• Proven experience in establishing an IT function from the ground up or significantly restructuring an existing one.

• Experience in remote or hybrid settings supporting distributed teams.

• Strong foundational knowledge in identity and access management.

• A builder mindset; capable of delivering systems that function without your direct involvement.

• Confidence in defending technical choices and engaging stakeholders effectively.

• Excellent communication and documentation abilities.

• Nice-to-have: experience working fully remotely.

• Nice-to-have: experience supporting a BYOD workforce.

• Nice-to-have: familiarity with PIPEDA or other Canadian privacy regulations.

• Nice-to-have: exposure to SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar compliance frameworks.

• Nice-to-have: experience in managing cybersecurity and compliance initiatives.

• Nice-to-have: previous experience with portfolio or multi-entity IT management.

• Relevant experience with Google Workspace, Slack, Notion, ClickUp, Figma, and AI tools as part of the core tech stack.
