IP Network Engineer I

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Assist in the execution, upkeep, and functioning of IP/MPLS network infrastructure.

• Contribute to the testing and validation of network technologies and configurations in both lab and production settings.

• Engage in network upgrades, deployments, and documentation initiatives.

• Diagnose network issues and collaborate with senior engineers to address intricate problems.

• Work alongside network operations and engineering teams to sustain dependable and scalable network services.

• Oversee network performance and help identify areas for enhancement.

⛳️ Requirements

• 4-5 years of experience in networking, telecommunications, ISP, or carrier Ethernet sectors.

• Basic knowledge of IP networking concepts and network engineering fundamentals.

• Practical experience with routers and switches, preferably on the Nokia/Alcatel platform.

• Understanding of routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, or IS-IS.

• Familiarity with MPLS concepts and carrier networking technologies.

• Knowledge of Layer 2 technologies including VLANs, STP, and LACP.

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.

• Ability to work remotely and collaboratively within a team-driven environment.

• Willingness to learn new technologies and advance in a network engineering career.

• An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

• Nokia NRS I certification or other entry-level networking certifications (CCNA, JNCIA, etc.) are advantageous.

• Familiarity with data center networking and transport technologies such as fiber, microwave, or cellular networks is a plus.

• Experience in a service provider or telecommunications setting is beneficial.
